Amman, Dec.11 (Petra) - Jordan and Romania have agreed to identify the necessary agreements to strengthen bilateral ties and fulfill the requirements of signing them to develop cooperation in economic, investment, trade, education and tourism fields.

Those remarks were made during a meeting held between Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman Safadi, and Secretary of State for Inter-institutional Relations in the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Magdalena Grigore.

Officials from both ministries will start working on setting up a roadmap to identify the required agreements that will enable legislative frameworks to strengthen cooperation within weeks.

During the meeting, Safadi and Grigore expressed both countries' interest to increase bilateral cooperation and stressed the importance of building on their strong ties for establishing wider economic relations between Jordan and Romania.

Both officials underlined the cultural ties between the two countries, as some 13,000 Jordanians students have studied in Romania.

Safadi expressed appreciation for Romania, which has increased the number of scholarships granted to Jordanian students from 13 to 53 as of next year.

Safadi and Grigore also discussed ways to facilitate Jordanian citizens' entry visas to Romania.

The Romanian official commended Jordan's important role in strengthening security and stability in the region, both bilaterally and within the European Union, which Romania will preside over early next year.

She emphasized the importance of the Aqaba Meetings, in which she represented her country, in cementing a holistic approach and deeper international cooperation to combat terrorism.
