92 lawmakers demand impeach Somali president over several accusations


(MENAFN) A motion signed by 92 politicians in Somalia has been submitted to parliament to impeach the country's president.

Abdurrezzak Muallim, a member of parliament, told Anadolu Agency: "92 members of parliament submitted a motion to the Somali Parliament Speaker Mohamed Mursal Sheikh requesting an impeachment of President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed."

The politicians accused the president of over-intervention in the administration of the federal areas, denial of powers to local authorities, misuse of power and ratification secret pacts with other states.

According to the country's constitution, 92 lawmakers had to sign a motion for it to be submitted to the speaker.
