Cairo, Dec.5 (Petra) -- Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman Safadi lauded the deep-rooted, strategic and historical Jordanian-Egyptian relationship.
At a joint press conference in Cairo on Wednesday with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shukri, Safadi said his visit to Cairo is a continuation of the ongoing process of consultation and coordination between the two countries.
He added that both countries are keen on activate Bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation.
"On regional issues, the Palestinian issue was at the forefront of what we discussed today," Safadi noted. "For us, the Palestinian issue is the core issue and we are very concerned about the lack of prospects for progress towards a two-state solution", he added.
The foreign minister further said they discussed the Syrian issue and agreed on finding a political solution to the crisis.
They also discussed the war in Yemen, the Palestinian reconciliation and the Jerusalem conference.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri said these meetings are an opportunity for the continued close coordination between the two countries at various levels.
"We have held a long and lengthy session of discussions, during which we reviewed all bilateral issues and regional challenges. As usual, we found a perfect match for our vision and move towards these challenges, both on the situation in Syria, Yemen and Libya, on top of these is the Palestinian issue," Shukri added.
Shukri stressed the importance of coordination and consultation between the two countries on various issues, noting that there is a second meeting between them will be held in Jordan or in Cairo during the next few weeks.
