This visit comes within the framework of the brotherly ties between the two countries as well as the historical ties between the two brotherly peoples. The visit reflected the two countries' joint determination to deepen bilateral cooperation in all fields.
During the visit, Mauritania's President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince, Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, held a formal talks session that addressed means of enhancing bilateral relations as well as issues of common interest at Arab, regional and international levels. The two leaders' views were identical on the issues discussed.
Mauritania's President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz and HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud expressed their great satisfaction over the depth of brotherly and friendly relations between the two brotherly peoples, reiterating their commitment to work hard to develop and enhance there relations in order to achieve common interests between the two brotherly countries.
As a result, a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding in vital areas have been signed between the two sides.
The talks between the two sides also addressed a number of Arab and international issues of common interest. The two sides affirmed their firm support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is the establishment of an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab peace initiative and the relevant international resolutions.
Regarding the Yemeni issue, the two sides affirmed their support for efforts to reach a political solution to the Yemeni crisis in accordance with Security Council resolution 2216 (2015), the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanism and the outcomes of the comprehensive Yemeni national dialogue. They also stressed their keenness on the unity, stability and territorial integrity of the Republic of Yemen.
President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz reiterated Mauritania's condemnation of any threat to the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as the threats and ballistic attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. On the name of Mauritania, President Mohamed appreciated the efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to alleviate humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people and to preserve the security and stability of the region and its international waterways.
The two sides also discussed the situation in Syria and Libya. Both sides affirmed their support for the efforts to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis as well as their keenness on the unity and integrity of the Syrian and Libyan territories.
The Mauritanian side reiterated its condemnation of the malicious allegations campaign against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, praising the pioneering role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in serving Arabs and Muslims and in supporting the establishment of peace and security in the world.
