By Elchin Mehdiyev – Trend:

Labor productivity in Azerbaijan (in terms of man-hour) has increased from 2.35 manats in 2006 to 7.59 manats in 2017, according to Azerbaijan's Employment Strategy for 2019-2030, approved by President Ilham Aliyev.

Labor productivity at current prices increased during the period from
2006 to 2013 and decreased in 2014-2016. Labor productivity has returned to growth since 2017.

There are very serious differences in the labor productivity indicators among various types of economic activity. Despite the fact that in 2016 labor productivity in the mining industry amounted to 257.7 manats, this figure in agriculture was 1.03 manats, in the processing industry it stood at 6.3 manats and in the construction sector it amounted to 9.4 manats.

The low level of labor productivity in agriculture is due to the weak use of intensive methods, innovative services and consultancy services, as well as the due to the fact that the majority of the workforce was unqualified.
