Spain: firefighter dies in floods

(MENAFN) The fire service declared that the body of a firefighter has been discovered in the southern Spanish province of Malaga, after heavy downpours drifted him away through streets and triggered evacuations for thousands, according to Reuters.

Cars were cried away along the streets by the water and thrown in the rubble after the flood subsided in the town of Campillos.

The regional government's environmental department confirmed that about 400 millimeters of rain dropped in one day in the town of Ardales - around 62 km (40 miles) from the main city of Malaga, alone.

Firefighter Jose Gil went missing when the truck was heading in with two others capsized, according to a post shared by local fire service.
