(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) will organise its first specialised seminar on value added tax (VAT) on Tuesday.
The seminar titled 'VAT: The motives, objectives and potential impacts on economy and development' will be organised as part of the 'Evenings' initiative which has been adopted by the current OCCI board.
The seminar will discuss a number of topics related to VAT, including the reasons behind government's tendency to apply the tax, economic and social benefits of its application and its impact on private sector, producers, exporters, importers and small and medium enterprises.
The event will also focus on social effects of the tax on end consumers and those with limited income, as well as the extent of readiness of application by all parties (government, private sector, end consumer).
