Yemenis fend off starvation in eating leaves: report

(MENAFN) Yemenis were reported to have been consuming leaves in order to avoid starvation, as their country undergoes a humanitarian crisis.

The humanitarian crisis was explained to have originated after Saudi Arabia launch bombing attacks on Yemen, leaving many deaths.

Yemen citizens who feed on leaves from the domestic vine are residing in the Aslam district of the northwestern Hajjah Province, the Associated Press reported.

The report added that the leaves are gathered by mothers who then wash and boil them to become somewhat edible.
