2024 football championships: Germany submits bid to be host


(MENAFN) Germany was confirmed to have formally offered the 2024 European football championships to be held within its grounds, standing in the face of Turkey.

UEFA headquarters in Nyon has received the formal bid document which was delivered by German Football Federation president Reinhard Grindel, in the company of the bid ambassador Philipp Lahm.

"I played in the 2006 World Cup in Germany and I'm sure that we will once again feel that great enthusiasm and create a new spirit of solidarity at Euro 2024," the 2014 World Cup-winning captain commented.

Lahm added "we are a cosmopolitan organizer and we have modern stadiums and good infrastructure. Football is at home in our country."
