Pakistan- PHC orders strict actions against Private Schools


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Wednesday announced to take stern actions against the owners of Private schools following two-day strike of schools.

Around 40,000 private schools witnessed a closure on Monday and Tuesday owing to the protest observed by teachers and private school owners against the new act of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Private Schools Regulatory Authority.

The PHC took the decision after hearing of case registered pertaining to fee structure of private schools and ordered to take over administrative control of the private schools and to seal the accounts of schools.

The division bench of PHC, comprising of Justice Waqar Ahmed Saith and Justice Muhammad Ayub, while hearing a writ petition regarding charging of high fees by private schools, directed the KP-PSRA to take stern action against protesting private schools.

The Managing Director of KP Schools regulatory Authority Zafar Ali Shah appeared in the court and Advocate Abbass Khan Sangeen also apprised the court.

On this occasion, Sangeen said that the private schools are not considering the decisions of Peshawar High Court and they are charging high fee from students.

Zafar Ali Shah assured to follow high court's decision, he stated that strict actions will be taken against those who violated the rules.

In this regard, the Private School owners lamented that the KPPSRA has established the act according to which the fees of private educational institutes have been reduced by 10% however the KP Schools Authority has also announced 20% reduction in fees however the reduction fee has almost reached 30 percent now. They said they are unsure whether to work according to the law or accept the directives of the regulatory body.

They also said that they have to pay salaries to their staff during the summer vacations and same is the case with the schools transport system.

Meanwhile parents of private school students have also been holding protest demonstrations against the private schools and terming them as 'Mafia'.
