Facebook chief Zuckerberg to provide evidence on data sharing

(MENAFN) Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg was declared to be summoned for providing evidence at a Commons committee looking into claims of illicit data sharing.

The chief executive is required to present answers after raising suspicions around Cambridge Analytica of obtaining and holding data about users, as revealed by the digital, culture, media and sport (DCMS) committee's chair Damian Collins.

In a statement on the House of Commons website, the chief wrote "data has been taken from Facebook users without their consent, and was then processed by a third party and used to support their campaigns."

He continued "I will be writing to Mark Zuckerberg asking that either he, or another senior executive from the company, appear to give evidence in front of the Committee as part our inquiry."
