Kuwait DM condoles with Egyptian counterpart over terrorist attacks victims

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Dec 29 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah sent a cable of condolences to his Egyptian counterpart Sedqi Sobhi on Friday over the victims of the two terrorist attacks on a church in Helwan, south of Cairo earlier today, and on the armed forces in Northern Sinai.
In the cable, the Kuwaiti minister condemned strongly the two acts which took place earlier in the day. The two terrorist acts run counter to all religions and humanitarian values as it targeted innocent civilians, and destabilize stability and security of Egypt, a sisterly country, the ministry's Directorate of Moral Guidance and Public Relations said in a press statement.
Sheikh Nasser stressed that Kuwait stands by Egypt and supports all measures taken by the Egyptian authorities to maintain the country's stability and security, the statement added.
He prayed to Allah the Almighty to bless the souls of the victims, and to bring solace to their families, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
The directorate said that the attack in Northern Sinai led to the killing of six police personnel when an explosion targeted a vehicle of the armed forces during a raid against a terror cell.
Some people, including a policeman, were killed and several others wounded in the attack on Mar Mina Church.
Meanwhile, an official source at the Foreign Ministry said on Friday Kuwait condemned and denounced strongly the attack on the church.
Such a cowardly act will not affect the unity of the Egyptian society and will strengthen the Egyptians' resolve to counter terrorism, the source said.
He affirmed Kuwait's firm position rejecting violence and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. The source expressed deepest condolences to the victims' families, wishing those injured a quick recovery. (end) mmj.ays.hm
