Pakistan- Bannu paramedics stage protest for acceptance of demands

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) BANNU: The Paramedics Association on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration at the District Health Office in Bannu in favour of their demands.

The protesting paramedics said they perform their duties with honesty and dedication, but they did not get reward for it. Female paramedics also participated in the protest who were wearing black armbands. They demanded reversal of transfers of their provincial office bearers. They said the transfers have been made as part of punitive measures for raising voice for their rights.

The protesters also demanded increase in promotion ratio. They said some paramedics fail to reach BPS-12 even after performing duties for 35 years. They said the in-service paramedics should also be allowed private practice on a limited scale in order to enable them to bear expenses of their homes.

'The government should give us a proper service structure and increase promotion ratio to 80 percent. Health professional allowance should also be given to clerks and class-IV employees. Transfers of our provincial leaders should also be reversed,' a female paramedic told TNN.

The protesting paramedics said they will keep fastening black armbands as mark of protest till 28 December and will actively participate in the protest rally at Jinnah Park, Peshawar on 3 December if their demands were not fulfilled.
