Qatar's response to siege lauded: Lebanese envoy

Ambassador of the Republic of Lebanon to Qatar, Hassan Qassim Najem, expressed his sincere congratulations to H H the Emir sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, H H the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and H H the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani on the occasion of the National Day of the State of Qatar.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), he said that the Qatari National Day is an occasion for the Qatari people to express their love for the country and to emphasise the necessity of preserving all concepts of unity, peace and brotherhood among the various segments of society. He added that the National Day is also an occasion for Qatari people to remember the achievements of their predecessors.
He stated that the celebration of the National Day of the State of Qatar comes within the framework of instilling national values in the hearts of Qataris, especially the younger generation.
He pointed out that experience has proved throughout the ages that pride in national identity is an essential element in strengthening the national bind in the face of any attempts to destabilise it.
The Lebanese ambassador also praised the way Qatar has handled the Gulf crisis and the calm way HH the Emir dealt with this serious situation. He said that since the early hours, the Qatari leadership adopted one slogan, which is dialogue, to resolve the dispute between members of the Gulf family, while maintaining national sovereignty every time the leadership felt that there was a threat to this cornerstone in the structure of states.
He also praised the unanimous support shown by the public in Qatar, their calm handling of the crisis and their refusal to indulge in tense reactions that would have caused the crisis to take place at the public level. He pointed out that the Qatari people proved their keenness to maintain kinship and not engage in political differences at the moment, adding that the current crisis showed that the Qatari people have a strong sense of awareness, conscience, high moral standard and national prestige.
HE expressed his hope that this crisis will end well for the region and its people and that the language of tolerance will dominate. He also expressed hope that decision makers will follow the Arab traditions of brotherhood in resolving disputes.
The ambassador of the Republic of Lebanon praised the relations between his country and the State of Qatar, describing them as a model that every citizen and official is proud of.
He stressed that Lebanon has the desire to develop these relations to the greatest extent possible because it satisfies the desire of the two peoples and that all considerations of principle and sincere vision in achieving the interests of the two countries are available. He pointed out that the relations between Qatar and the Republic of Lebanon have always been based on foundations of cooperation, respect and brotherhood that are not destabilized by political changes regardless of how bad the political and security situation in the region become.
He explained that throughout the bilateral relations between Qatar and Lebanon, the two countries have always stressed that they support each other and the latest manifestations of that was what happened in the past few months when the Qatari leadership decided to exempt the Lebanese people from an entry visa, adding that this decision left a good impression on the Lebanese people.
HE thanked HH the Emir for this generous gesture towards the Lebanese people, adding that it is not the first and will not be the last gesture, stressing that the relations between the two countries will see more development and will rise to the highest levels.
