Qatar- Showcasing contemporary Arabian fashion creations

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition is Qatar's biggest showcase of contemporary Arabian fashion creations launched in 2007 and has been attracting exhibitors from across the GCC and beyond to showcase an array of Gulf-designed clothes and accessories.

The 11th edition of Heya is showcasing 17 international exhibitors and hosting four embassies, who have been introducing visitors to designers hailing from Japan, Spain, Portugal and Qatar's Year of Culture partner Germany, and is organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA).

Featuring at Heya for the first time were Inuñez from Spain, Queen Mart from Singapore and Elsa Barreto from Portugal presenting their collections of modern modest fashion which included tunics, embellished gowns, palazzo trousers and accessories.

Talking to The Peninsula Ignacio Escobar, Ambassador of Spain to Qatar, said: 'The initiative they launched this year to allow men at Heya is astonishing. We are surprised to see the quality of exhibition this year. This year we see a sea of colours, as Spain is participating the first time. We have brought very young and dynamic designers from Spain and they have brought very high quality material with a combination of traditional and modern touch in their designs.

'Inuñez brand is a well known brand in Spain. Designer Isabel Nuñez has her own haute couture bridal and guests atelier in Madrid. While disclosing about her collection, she said: 'My collection is haute couture filled with many colours. Me, as a designer I prefer high quality fabric which is ‘silk', and hand embroidery. We have a huge collection of party gowns, Inuñez team expects a huge success from Doha and we definitely look forward to come here next year.

'The loose fitting, luxurious fabrics are made for strong women who want to feel elegant yet comfortable. Our brand's luxury pret-a couture timeless feel is a good fit for Heya and its audience. Although we have adapted pieces for the Arabic market, such as adding sleeves to vests and tunics, we haven't lost our Spanish identity, Nuñez added.

Heya Exhibition is recognised as a creative celebration of contemporary modest fashion. This exhibition embraces the rise of the modest fashion industry around the world and welcomes a range of exciting international exhibitors to present their collections.

Director of Exhibitions at Qatar Tourism Authority, Ahmed Al Obaidli, said: 'Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition has grown to become so much more than an exciting regional shopping destination. As the industry has evolved, we have embraced the changes happening across the globe to bring exciting international brands together, introducing them to new audiences and expanding their reach, while reflecting the true diversity of the modest fashion industry and its appeal to women all over the world.

Catering to this growing industry, which is projected to be worth $368bn by 2021, according to the State of the Global Islamic Economy report (2016), Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition brings together over 250 exhibitors presenting 350 brands.

Haya Al Fadhel, Creative Director of Naseem Alandalos brand of Bahrain told The Peninsula: 'Heya is the most awaiting exhibition for us. We participate in Heya Exhibition twice a year. Since we have been participating in Heya from a long time we have managed to make loyal local clients. This year we have come with three collections which include Party wear, Ramadan special and Eid wear. Our collection is inspired by our couture collection which has new floral embroidery.

Hosting daily forums, workshops, talks and fashion shows, Heya is Qatar's biggest showcase of contemporary modest fashion and has become a must-visit destination for women to showcase, inspire, socialise and motivate others in the industry to reach international recognition for their brands.
