Qatar- Ukraine Accuses Russia of Committing War Crimes in Donbass

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) New York, May 14 (QNA) - Ukraine had accused Russia of committing war crimes in Donbass and called on the international criminal court (ICC) to launch an investigation of mass murders, accusing the leaders of Donetsk and Lugansk of partaking in these crimes.
"In light of the current difficult situation in and around Ukraine, we fully recognize the need of ensuring the global jurisdiction, legitimacy and the International criminal court," said a statement of Ukraine mission to the United Nations (UN).
The fighting in the Donbass (anti-terrorist operation, or ATO, as they are called in Kiev) continued from April 2014. Kiev is trying to return a number of territories, effective control over which is exercised by the self-proclaimed militia Donetsk and Lugansk national republics. According to the UN, victims of the conflict were about nine thousand people. The Ukrainian government constantly accuses Russia of waging war in this region, Moscow, in turn, denies these allegations. (QNA)
