Morocco- Moroccan Pharmacists Stage a 'Sit In' to Denounce Law Violations

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Dozens of pharmacists in the Grand Casablanca region organized a 'sit-in'on Saturdayin the district of Ain Sebaa in Casablanca to denounce the “non-compliance with regulatory schedules in pharmacies located in shopping malls and supermarkets.” According to the Union of pharmacists of the Wilaya of Casablanca this lack of respect for schedules created unfair competition for pharmacists on duty.

“People automatically head to the pharmacies that remain open in supermarkets which negatively impacts the pharmacists on-call service” Aicha Zaoui pharmacist and general secretary of the Union of pharmacists said.

The protesters called for all pharmacists to respect the disciplinary measures that were imposed by the Governor of Casablanca seven months ago in order to enforce the law.

They said that they have recorded several violations to these disciplinary measures stressing that 'no one is above the law.'

'All pharmacies must comply with the regulations of the province and the Union without exception as a pharmacist cannot work more than 12 hours in a row' one the pharmacists explained at the 'sit-in'.

They said that for nearly a year and a half pharmacists of Casablanca are mobilizing against “anarchy prevailing in the sector.”

The Union of pharmacists added that they can legally sue those who violate the schedule but “this procedure is complicated and requires a lot of time.”
