(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Foreign Minister H E Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah has confirmed Qatar's keenness to do all it can to achieve regional peace and justice and called for collective action to end violence in Iraq and Syria.
He stressed that Qatar did not support extremist groups in any way, pointing to the state's rejection of ideologies and ambitions of those groups.
"The vision of extremist groups of the region is not consistent with the vision of Qatar, which will not support them in any way," he said in an article entitled 'Qatar does not support any extremist group in any way' in the French edition of Huffington Post.
Dr Al Attiyah also called on the Iraqi government "to work to provide safety and security to civilians" and pledged that "Qatar will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people".
He warned that "the killing of innocent civilians and the forcible deportation of hundreds of thousands threaten the existence of Iraq as well as peace and security in the entire region."
On Syria, he said Qatar supported the Syrian opposition, like many other countries in the Middle East and the international community, but did not fund Islamic State or any other extremist group.
He said "reaching a just, lasting and peaceful agreement for the sake of Palestine's future, is a pivotal issue for peace and stability in the region," stressing Qatar's determination to work to ensure a future in which "stability, security and prosperity prevail in Palestine, the Middle East and the world."
