colonel saif sahams al mazruwei acting director of fujairah civil defence department said 70 fires were reported in the emirate till date this year.
it showed a decline compared with the same period last year when there had been 80 fires.
fires occur in the summer months due to soaring temperatures. in may 16 fires were reported. besides shops and houses there were two fires in cars as well. january saw the fewest incidents with three fires. the department is conducting building and shop inspections.
