Japan N. Korea to Hold Working Level Talks


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Kyo june 15 (qna) - japan and north korea have begun arrangements to hold the next round of working-level talks soon possibly late this month when pyongyang is expected to set up a special panel to reinvestigate its abductions of japanese citizens as agreed on with tokyo late last month japanese government sources said saturday.

the japanese side plans to call for north korea to give priority to investigating the whereabouts of 77 missing japanese for whom abduction cannot be precluded as a possibility as well as the 12 people who are officially recognized by tokyo as abduction victims and not yet returned to japan according to japan's (kyodo) news agency.

it hopes to urge north korea to submit a first report on its reinvestigation during the summer while planning to confirm with the north korean side the authority of the reinvestigation panel and the composition of its members including who will be in charge according to the sources. (qna)
