South Korea's producer price dips 0.3 percent in April

(MENAFN) Data released by the South Korean central bank showed that the country's producer prices declined in April, marking the longest decline in the country's history, Xinhua reported. According to the Bank of Korea (BOK), the producer price index (PPI), an indicator of future consumer price inflation, dipped 0.3 percent in April compared to the same period a year ago. The government attributed the decrease to the lower commodity prices and the currency's rise to the U.S. dollar. Although the decline was the slower compared with falls of 0.5 in March and 0.9 percent in February, it marked a consecutive downward for 19 months.
