US Closely Monitoring N. Korean Nuke Activities


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) shington April 23 - The United States government says it is closely monitoring North Korea's activities. White House Spokesman Jay Carney told reporters the US is always mindful of North Korea's nuclear threats as it has a history of taking provocative action. He made the statement aboard the Air Force One as Obama departed for his Asian tour according to Korea's (KBS WORLD) website. At the US State Department Spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the US continues to urge North Korea to refrain from actions threatening regional peace and security. She added the North must comply with its international obligations and commitments. Washington's remarks came after South Korea's Defense Ministry Spokesman Kim Min-seok said multiple activities are being detected at the Punggye-ri nuclear site in Kilju County North Hamgyong Province. He added the activity however could be deceitful and the North's way of creating the appearance of a nuclear test.
