Death Toll Of South Korean Sunken Ferry Rises To 64


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) ndo South KoreaApril 21 - The death toll from a sunken ferry off South Korea's south coast rose to 64 on Monday as divers stepped up their search for passengers remaining missing in the disaster. Hopes of finding any survivors were fading rapidly as none of the 302 missing passengers have been found alive since the 6825-ton ferry Sewol capsized and sank off the southwestern island of Jindo on Wednesday. Another 238 were still missing with no one found alive since 174 people were rescued from the sinking ferry Sewol off the south-western island of Jindo on Wednesday Yonhap News Agency reported. Rescuers worked through the night with the help of remotely operated vehicles that entered the ferry Yonhap said. Authorities were to resume the search by mobilizing 212 boats 32 naval ships 34 aircraft and 556 military and civilian rescue workers including divers it reported.
