Two Killed in Libyan Prison Unrest


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) ipoli April 12 - Two people were killed and several wounded in unrest inside a major prison near the Libyan capital Tripoli Libya's official news agency LANA reported Saturday The inmates rioted overnight torching parts of the Ain Zara Prison south-west of Tripoli and attacking guards in an attempt to escape deputy prison chief Ashraf Zayed was quoted by the agency as saying. An ensuing stampede left two prisoners dead - a Libyan and a national from sub-Saharan Africa according to the official. Security forces quelled the "rebellion" and foiled the jailbreak attempt Zayed said stating: "The situation is now under control.
