Day fit for augusta

(MENAFN- Kora) Day has been sidelined by a thumb injury and a back strain since winning the wgc-match play championship at dove mountain in february.

The australian 26 will head to the year's first major having not played a professional stroke-play event in over two months but his manager ian davis said that will not stop him chasing an elusive masters title.

Day finished tied for second in 2011 before a third-place finish behind compatriot adam scott last year.

"i spoke to jason last week. there's no doubt he'll be there'' davis said.

"there's no reason to believe he won't.

"it's been an incredible journey from where jason started to what he's done and what's in front of him.

"it's very exciting.''

Day arrived at augusta on wednesday and the prospect of climbing to the number one ranking is well within the queenslander's scope after incumbent tiger woods withdrew due to his persistent back problem.
