UAE - DSCE fetes 2013 achievements


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) In the presence of Shaikh Ahmed, Al Tayer and Al Muhairabi, Dubai Carbon signed two MoUs with Dubai Municipality and Empower. Shaikh Ahmed oversaw the signing of two MoUs during the DSCE's 26th meeting in Dubai on Saturday. - AFP Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, or DSCE, has launched a new dedicated website for smartphone users and oversaw the signing of memoranda of understanding for the Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence between Dubai Municipality and Empower at the 26th meeting of the council at its headquarters on Saturday. Vice-chairman Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, secretary-general Ahmed Butti Al Muhairabi and members of the council, including Abdullah Kalban, CEO of Dubai Aluminium; Saeed Khoory, CEO of Emirates National Oil Company; Abdullah Karim, general manager of Dubai Petroleum; Waleed Salman, chairman of Dubai Carbon; Jeff Severin, general manager of Dubai Petroleum; and representatives from the Dubai Supply Authority attended the meeting. The participants discussed various topics including the achievements of the council and its affiliated bodies during 2013. In the presence of Shaikh Ahmed, Al Tayer and Al Muhairabi, Dubai Carbon signed two MoUs with Dubai Municipality and Empower. As per the MoUs, Dubai Municipality and Empower will work to reduce carbon emissions in its buildings and facilities, thus reducing their carbon footprint. This is in line with the Green Economy for Sustainable Development initiative launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Shaikh Ahmed - who is also President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Emirates airline and Chief Executive of the Emirates Group - launched the new website that enables public access to the site through their smartphones. The website provides extremely fast access to information, and can be surfed using any smartphone.
