Macao's Nov trade balance posts USD716.7m deficit


(MENAFN) Macao's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) stated that the city's trade balance posted a deficit of USD716.7 million last month, reported Xinhua News. The agency said that in the month, total merchandise export reached USD86.58 million, with the value of domestic export dropping by 19.1 percent, reaching USD22.18 million. On the other hand, merchandise import jumped by 19.1 percent to USD803.1 million. In the January-November period, the value of merchandise export climbed 19.9 percent to USD937.2 million, while the value of re-exports surging by 32.2 percent, however, the value of domestic exports fell by 3.3 percent. It added that in the 11-month period, the value of merchandise import from Chinese mainland grew by 22.6 percent to USD2.56 billion, and merchandise import from the EU went up by 9.1 percent to USD1.86 billion. On the other hand, the value of merchandise export to China expanded by 37.4 percent in the first 11 months, whereas export to the EU declined 18.2 percent and to the US fell by 6.5 percent.
