Afghanistan- Paktia car suicide bombing kills 2, wounds district chief


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) GARDEZ (Pajhwok): A car suicide bombing killed two people and seriously wounded a district chief and his guard in the capital of southeastern Paktia province on Saturday, an official said.

The apparent target of the car bomb attack was Ahmadabad district chief Hazrat Mohammad Rodwal who was injured in the blast that took place in Bala Deh area of Gardez, the provincial capital, in the afternoon, said area police officer Jamil Hotak.

He said the district chief was on his way to Ahmadabad district from Gardez when came under attack in the limits of the second police district.

He said the remains of the car used in the attack could not be identified as yet because several others vehicles had been destroyed in the powerful explosion. He said the blast caused damage to a wide area.

Hotak said several people who were wounded in the attack had been taken to the military hospital. He did not give an exact figure for those wounded.

Rahmatullah, an eyewitness, said several people were taken to hospital in ambulance and police pick ups from the scene. 'I saw at least six being taken to hospital.'

A source at the military hospital said they had been delivered two dead bodies and four injured people including the district chief. He did no say if the injured were civilians or guards of the district official.
