ASML Announces Plans to Slash 1,700 Positions

(MENAFN) ASML, the Dutch semiconductor equipment powerhouse, announced Wednesday it will eliminate approximately 1,700 positions as part of a strategic overhaul aimed at refocusing resources toward engineering excellence and innovation.

The company disclosed the workforce reduction through a staff-wide letter, revealing that cuts will concentrate within the Technology and IT & Data divisions. Management and leadership roles face disproportionate exposure to the downsizing initiative, according to the communication.

The restructuring involves abandoning ASML's current project-based matrix framework in favor of a product-centric model where engineers dedicate their efforts to specific products and modules, the letter explained.

Current projections indicate the organizational transformation could trigger a net workforce reduction of roughly 1,700 roles, with the Netherlands absorbing the majority of cuts while some positions in the United States will also be affected, the company stated.

ASML operates from its headquarters in Veldhoven, located in the southern Netherlands.
