Missile attack kills seven, injures dozen in Ukraine's Odesa

(MENAFN) At least seven people were killed and 15 others injured on Friday when a Russian ballistic missile targeted port facilities in Ukraine’s southwestern Odesa region, according to local authorities.

“This evening, the enemy again massively attacked a port infrastructure facility in the Odesa region with ballistic missiles. As a result of the strike, trucks in the parking lot caught fire,” Governor Oleh Kiper reported on Telegram. He added that 15 people have been hospitalized and are receiving treatment, while the death toll remains at seven based on preliminary reports.

Kiper also noted that emergency and operational teams have faced challenges in responding to the strike due to ongoing air alerts in the region.

The Odesa area has seen increased aerial attacks in recent weeks, prompting the deployment of rescuers from 12 regions to assist with the response and recovery from repeated missile strikes.

Russian authorities have not issued a response to the claims, and independent verification of the incident remains difficult due to the ongoing conflict.
