Moscow-Beijing partnership enhances despite global upheaval—Russian PM
(MENAFN) Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said on Monday that cooperation between Moscow and Beijing is deepening despite global political and economic turbulence. His comments came during the 30th regular meeting of China-Russia heads of government in Hangzhou, China, attended by Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
Mishustin highlighted joint large-scale projects, including oil and gas development, high-tech equipment production, aviation and automotive programs, transport corridor expansion, Arctic operations, and collaboration in energy, peaceful nuclear programs, and space exploration. He added that trade between the two nations has become nearly independent of the dollar and euro, describing their use in transactions as negligible.
The Russian premier also emphasized boosting tourism through a visa-free regime for Russian citizens traveling to China and said similar arrangements for Chinese citizens are under consideration. He noted that Russian food exports have gained popularity in China.
Li Qiang expressed China’s readiness to enhance strategic communication, expand cooperation across sectors, and safeguard shared development and security interests. The meeting concluded with the signing of multiple agreements, including a joint communique, and Mishustin invited Li to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Moscow on November 17–18.
Mishustin arrived in China on a two-day visit, which will also include talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
