Albanese states UN’s actual worth ‘measured in deeds’

(MENAFN) On Wednesday, the Prime Minister of Australia stated that “the true value of the United Nations is not counted in decades, it is measured in deeds.”

Speaking at the UN General Assembly's 80th session in New York, Albanese once again urged for a truce in Gaza and the release of hostages.

Quoting the UN Charter, he emphasized the administration’s duty to safeguard the upcoming generations from conflict as well as to enhance basic human rights as well as social advancement.

Albanese stated that each nation in this room has vowed to stand by these ideals, and he added that Peacemakers as well as assistance workers around the world have risked their lives and lost their lives in quest of these principles.

He stated "so we must ask ourselves: When can those words hold meaning, if not now? Where can those words apply, if they do not apply to the Middle East?”

"And what can we, the members of the United Nations, say we stand for if we cannot say we stand for this?”

He also mentioned "there is a moment of opportunity here — let us seize it."
