Iran seeks to strengthen trade ties with Tunisia
(MENAFN) During a meeting between Samad Hasanzadeh, Head of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA), and Imad Al-Rahmuni, the Tunisian Ambassador to Iran, both parties stressed the importance of revitalizing the Iran-Tunisia Joint Business Council. One key aspect discussed was the need to establish direct flights between Tehran and Tunis, which was identified as a prerequisite for enhancing trade relations between the two nations.
The meeting also underscored the significance of exchanging up-to-date commercial information between the traders of Iran and Tunisia. Hasanzadeh highlighted that the current trade volume between the two countries does not reflect their full commercial potential. This gap, he noted, is largely due to a lack of knowledge about each country's economic capacities and resources among traders.
Hasanzadeh further emphasized the vital role that the embassies of both countries could play in fostering trade relations. He suggested that the Tunisian Embassy in Tehran could significantly contribute by providing updated information on Tunisia's major economic needs and identifying areas where Iran could offer solutions. This, he believes, would create valuable cooperation opportunities between the private sectors of both countries.
The ICCIMA head also outlined several sectors in which Iranian private sector companies have strong capabilities, including food industries, petrochemicals, steel, machinery manufacturing, building materials, technical and engineering services, construction, tunnel construction, railways, refineries, healthcare services (especially health tourism), agriculture, and agricultural equipment, particularly greenhouse agriculture, as well as cultural and academic services.
