Prices trends remain unclear as Trump overlooks inflation

(MENAFN) US leader Donald Trump stated two months ago in his very first network TV interview following the elections that he credited his win to the anger of Americans over issues like immigration and inflation, especially the increasing price of groceries.

“When you buy apples, when you buy bacon, when you buy eggs, they would double and triple the price over a short period of time,” he announced to NBC’s “Meet the Press. “And I won an election based on that. We’re going to bring those prices way down.”

However, during the first week for Trump in the White House, only few executive commands tackled prices directly, except for instructing federal agencies to begin " pursuing appropriate actions.” He is paving the way to decrease energy costs, hoping for broader economic benefits. Yet, his top priority remains immigration, which shortly following taking the oath of the office, he called it his “No. 1 issue.”
