EU Expresses Condolences To U.S. Following Plane Crash


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, Jan 30 (KUNA) -- The European Union (EU) expressed on Thursday its condolences to the United States following the crash of a plane into the Potomac river after it collided with a military helicopter outside Washington D.C.
EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in a post on X, "I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the horrific crash between an airplane and a helicopter in Washington, D.C."
She added, "Europe stands with the families of the victims in this difficult moment, and with the American people as a whole. Our hearts and thoughts are with you."
For her part, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, said she was "devastated by the tragic news of the aerial collision near Washington, D.C."
She offered her condolences to the families of the passengers, crew members on board the plane, and soldiers "during this heartbreaking time". (end)
