FAIZABAD (Pjhawok): Costly and long trips from remote parts of northeastern Badakhshan province to obtain Computerized National Identification Cards (CNICs) have become a big challenge for us, a number of local residents complain.
They ask officials concerned to address the issue.
Badakhshan has 27 districts and a population of over two million inhabitants and has only two CNIC distribution centres situated in the provincial capital Faizabad city. The residents of remote districts have no other options rather than embarking on costly and long trips to the provincial capital.
Referring to the hard, costly and long trips for getting a CNIC, Amanullah, 60, a resident of Shekai district, said:“I have no other option than spending 8,000 afs and staying in a Faizabad hotel for days to obtain my CNIC.”
He asked officials to establish CNIC distribution centres in remote districts so their residents avoid long and costly trips.
Mohammad Asghar 50, a resident of Shighnan district, traveled for 12 hours from his district to reach Faizabad to get his ID card.
He said:“I spent 5,000 afs to get my CNIC.
He also asked the government of Islamic Emirate to create more ID distribution centres in districts to facilitate their residents in getting ID cards
What is NSIA's plan to solve this problem?
Provincial National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) director Qari Habibur Rahman Usmani admitted residents of remote areas faced challenges in obtaining CNICs but said they were trying to create five more ID distributions centres in five remote districts such as Darwaz, Ragh and Kisham ...
Usmani confirmed the two ID distribution centres in Faizabad city and Baharak district daily issued around 180 to 200 CNICs on a daily basis.
Mujibur Raham Khashi, CNIC distribution director at NSIA office, said to address the problem, they had a plan to create three more CNIC distribution centres during the upcoming year in three bordering districts of Badakhshan province.
CNIC distribution centres have succeeded to register and finish biometrics of 29,000 inhabitants and issue 26,000 CNICs.
