Iran expresses readiness to enhance cooperation with Uzbekistan in agricultural technology


(MENAFN) Iranian Minister of Agriculture Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh has announced that Iran is ready to enhance cooperation with Uzbekistan in sharing agricultural knowledge and technology. Nouri met with a joint delegation from the Ministries of Agriculture, Trade, and Investment of Uzbekistan in Tehran on Sunday.

In his remarks, Nouri referred to the 14th Iranian government's strategic vision to strengthen international relations, emphasizing the initiative by the President of Uzbekistan to boost bilateral cooperation, which has opened significant opportunities for constructive collaboration between the two nations.

He highlighted Iran’s readiness to supply Uzbekistan with the necessary agricultural machinery and suggested that cooperation could extend beyond product exports to include barter arrangements, such as trading potatoes and legumes.

Nouri also noted that Iran has a long history of agricultural research, spanning over a century, and is eager to share its expertise with Uzbekistan. During the meeting, Ibrohim Ergashev, the head of the Plant Quarantine Service of Uzbekistan, underscored the importance of economic cooperation between the two countries. Ergashev emphasized Uzbekistan's commitment to strengthening trade ties with Iran and mentioned that plans have been made to advance this cooperation.

Ergashev also pointed out a notable increase in agricultural trade, with imports from Iran having doubled compared to the previous year, reaching USD68 million.
