(MENAFN) Samad Hassanzadeh, the Head of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA), has called for the facilitation of Spanish visas for Iranian traders, stressing that such a measure would significantly boost bilateral trade between the two countries. During a meeting in Tehran with Antonio Sánchez-Benedito Gaspar, Spain’s ambassador to Iran, Hassanzadeh pointed out the importance of extending the validity of Spanish visas for Iranian businessmen, which are currently limited to just one week. He argued that a longer duration would allow for more productive trade engagements.
Hassanzadeh further highlighted that the current trade volume between Iran and Spain is far below the potential of both nations. He pointed to key sectors such as food industries, petrochemicals, and mining as areas with significant opportunities for growth in bilateral trade. He emphasized that both countries could mutually benefit from increasing collaboration, particularly in these sectors.
Additionally, Hassanzadeh expressed interest in Spanish investments in Iran's renewable energy sector, particularly in solar energy. He invited Spanish companies to explore opportunities for collaboration in Iran’s petrochemical industry, as well as in setting up refineries. He believes that Spain’s expertise in renewable energy could play a vital role in Iran's energy transition.
Overall, Hassanzadeh's remarks underline the potential for a stronger economic partnership between Iran and Spain, suggesting that facilitating visa processes and fostering sector-specific investments could drive substantial growth in their trade relations.
