Adverse Weather: Hotlines To Call In The Event Of Disasters


(MENAFN- NewsIn Asia) Nov 27 (NewsWire) – A total of 207,582 persons from 59,629 families across 17 districts have been severely affected due to the inclement weather conditions experienced across Sri Lanka, as of 06.00 am today.

According to the Disaster Management Centre, one person has been reported dead and 08 have been injured in various disasters reported during this period.

A total of 10,137 persons from 3102 families are currently placed in 104 safety shelters.

The Sri Lanka Police has set up a 24-hour operation centre at the Police Headquarters to facilitate the public to communicate and coordinate any disaster incidents.

The Police have also introduced a special hotline

dedicated to Tamil-speaking people in need of assistance during adverse weather conditions.

The Sri Lanka Navy has also been deployed to some areas requiring assistance due to disaster situations, while several Navy teams are on standby to address disaster situations
