Azerbaijan Fully Committed To Development Of Climate Education - Official

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 18. Azerbaijan is fully committed to developing“climate education” and creating a future based on sustainability, said Azerbaijani Science and Education Minister Emin Amrullayev, Trend reports.

He made the remark during a roundtable discussion at COP29 on greening education and climate literacy, the 2nd annual meeting of the Partnership for Greening Education.

“We have taken steps over the past six years to integrate climate change and environmental awareness into our national curriculum. From elementary school through high school, subjects such as science include important elements of climate change. For instance, we directly relate climate systems and sustainable development to more than 25 percent of our geography curriculum standards. This integrated approach helps our students understand the impact of human activity on the environment, the importance of using renewable resources, and how to protect our ecosystems.

We are fully committed to advancing“climate education” and creating a future based on sustainability. Climate change is not a distant problem for us-it is a reality. Rising global temperatures, changing weather patterns, and water challenges remind us of the urgency of our work. This urgency drives us to make 'climate education' a key element of our education system, preparing future generations not only to adapt but also to lead in this area,” he said.
