Turkmenistan Debates Emissions Inventory In Oil/Gas Sector

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 30. Clean Air Task
Force (CATF), Turkmengaz, and Turkmennebit are discussing an
inventory of emissions in the oil and gas sector, the director of
global campaigns of CATF James Turitto said, Trend reports.
He made the announcement at the pre-conference dialogue "Green
energy transition in Turkmenistan: getting ready for the 10th
anniversary of the Paris Agreement" within the framework of the
international conference and exhibition "Oil and Gas of
Turkmenistan - 2024" in Ashgabat.
"Over the past year, we have been working with the government of
Turkmenistan through the Ministry of Environmental Protection and
the US CLDP (Commercial Law Development Program) to help develop a
regulatory policy approach in Turkmenistan. We have also been in
discussions with Turkmengaz and Turkmennebit to establish an
emissions inventory for the oil and gas sector. Through our work
under the FSRP (Floating Gas Power Generation), we can provide
additional ongoing assistance to the government of Turkmenistan for
several years, and we hope to finalize our work with the Ministry
of Environmental Protection soon," he said.
To note, the Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan - 2024 (OGT 2024) forum
is an international platform that brings together leading national
and international oil and gas companies, as well as industry
experts and financial institutions. The main goal of the event is
to strengthen the dialog on sustainable development of the energy
sector and attract investments in the oil and gas industry of
Turkmenistan. The forum will discuss the prospects of field
development, modernization of processing facilities, as well as the
introduction of advanced technologies and environmental aspects of
hydrocarbon production.
