Peace In South Caucasus Contradicts West's Plans - Official

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) MOSCOW, Russia, October 7. Peace in the South Caucasus contradicts the West's plans, the general director of the Caspian Institute for Strategic Studies (Russia) Igor Korotchenko told Azerbaijani reporters in Moscow, Trend reports.

“As for the military-technical support of the US and France to Armenia, they are protecting their national interests. Both Washington, Paris, and Brussels do not need a peaceful, calm South Caucasus. They would like to have levers of pressure on Azerbaijan. That is why Pashinyan's Regime is now receiving intelligence, logistical, and military support. Armenia is being pumped up. They are doing it with one goal: to prevent peace and tranquility in the South Caucasus. Because the South Caucasus is primarily transportation corridors and energy resources. It would be good for the West if Armenia plays the role of a Trojan horse, a source of instability,” he said.

Korotchenko emphasized that Armenia does not want to sign a peace treaty.

“Besides, Armenia does not want to amend its Constitution, which contains direct claims to Azerbaijani territory. The West encourages Armenia,” he added.
