Apple iPhone sales experience accelerated growth amid global smartphone market growth

(MENAFN) Apple Inc. saw stagnant Iphone sales in the quarter ending June, even as the broader smartphone market experienced accelerated growth, according to recent reports by IDC and Counterpoint Research. Global smartphone sales increased by 6.5 percent, buoyed significantly by advancements in artificial intelligence, as highlighted by IDC, while Counterpoint Research reported a 6 percent rise in sales.

In particular, heavy discounts associated with China's 618 shopping festival played a crucial role in stimulating consumer demand in the largest mobile market globally. This period saw notable gains for Xiaomi and a resurgence for Huawei Technologies, both making substantial strides in market share throughout the year. The latest findings follow data from Chinese authorities indicating a rebound in iPhone sales since March.

According to IDC, Apple sold approximately 45.2 million iPhones in the second quarter, marking a modest 1.5 percent increase compared to the same period last year. These figures underscore Apple's ongoing performance in a competitive global smartphone landscape, influenced by regional market dynamics and consumer preferences.
