IMF Raises Brazil’S 2025 Growth Forecast, Lowers 2024 Outlook

(MENAFN- The Rio Times) The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has revised Brazil's GDP growth for 2025 to 2.4%, reflecting recovery from Rio Grande do Sul's floods.

Initially lower, the growth forecast improved due to Brazil's economic resilience and structural progress, marking a 0.3 percentage point increase from April's figures.

Conversely, the IMF lowered Brazil's 2024 growth estimate to 2.1%. This slight decrease stems from monetary and fiscal challenges.

Despite these issues, Brazil's Agriculture and industry sectors showed remarkable performance, enhancing overall economic stability.

Moreover, the IMF anticipates further economic strengthening in Brazil.

Efficiency gains from tax reforms and increased hydrocarbon production are expected to push growth to a medium-term peak of 2.5%.

This optimistic projection followed an IMF visit that assessed Brazil's economic progress. The broader Latin American region, however, faces tempered growth expectations.

This year's forecast for the region has been adjusted downward, influenced partly by a reduced growth forecast for Mexico and dampened demand across the area.

Yet, Brazil's economic rebound offers a glimmer of hope and a potential model for neighboring countries grappling with similar challenges.

Nevertheless, Brazil's recovery might inspire neighboring countries facing similar challenges.

Globally, economic growth appears moderate, with significant regional differences. The U.S. may slow down, while Europe could see a rebound.

Asia remains robust, led by China's strong consumption and exports.
