Doha, Qatar: Vogue Café and Al Markhiya gallery partnered to unveil cover designs for the second edition of the 'Contemporary Characters' book series during an artistic event held recently at Place Vendome Mall.
The enthralling artwork was created by Qatari artist Ahmed Nooh, who serves as a member of Al Markhiya Gallery.
The event took place in the presence of Ashraf Bou Issa and Dr. Buthaina Al Ansari, who unveiled the book design. During the event, it was also announced that the books will be available for pre-order exclusively through the Snoonu app, offering the public to receive these phenomenal works.
Speaking to The Peninsula, on the sidelines of the unveiling event, Ahmed Nooh presented his distinctive artistic vision that reflects the essence of the book series. He said:“The journey from the meeting of discussing an art until now took more than a month. I drew many sketches and finally, one of the bests was selected.” Expressing his gratitude towards Al Markhiya Gallery and the book series author Hamad Al Tamimi, he said“Participating in this book event titled 'Contemporary Characters' gives me immense joy and I would like to thank them for bestowing their trust in me.” Nooh mentioned that the idea of creating such an artwork took much longer than drawing it.
Commenting on his book, Qatari writer, Hamad Al Tamimi told The Peninsula“This book series signifies 170 characters including men and women selected through the specific criteria. It also portrays their journeys, difficulties, and challenges in addition to a positive lifestyle.
Penning down for more than two years, Al Tamimi remarked“The book is all about the work that supports Qatar National Vision 2030 and the sustainability development of the country.”
The book series, however, represents an extensive documentation process aimed at spotlighting the achievements of the individuals in the building and development of modern Qatar.
The work also reflects a comprehensive documentation of the journeys of these figures, showcasing their efforts and achievements in various fields.
The two books, penned by Al Tamimi are expected to be launched at a grand ceremony under the patronage of prominent entities on June 24.
Hamad Al Tamimi expressed his optimism in promoting culture and arts and documenting the journeys of contemporary personalities in the country. This series of books also symbolizes a vital addition to the Qatari library and a source of inspiration for future generations to learn about the figures who have contributed to shaping Qatar's modern history.
