Iran Digging Joint Oil Field With Iraq


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 29. The drilling of sixdevelopment wells has started in the Yadavaran oil field (Sindbadin Iraq), a joint oil field of Iran and Iraq, deputy generaldirector of the National Mining Company of Iran Abdolkarim AliMohammadi said, Trend reports.

According to him, the mentioned wells are being drilled withinthe framework of the agreement signed between the National MiningCompany of Iran, Petroleum Development and Engineering Company(Pedec).

Ali Mohammadi noted that these wells will be drilled within 24months and handed over to the oil company. The national miningcompany intends to modernize the wells faster. A total of 4,800meters will be drilled in six wells.

To note, the Yadavaran oil field, located 60 kilometerssouthwest of the city of Ahvaz in Khuzestan Province on theIran-Iraq border, contains 6.3 billion barrels of oil. It isreported that its production could reach 6.2 billion barrels. Thefirst phase of the field produces more than 110,000 barrels of oildaily through 49 wells.
