Date Of Next Meeting Of Azerbaijan's Pardon Issues Commission Revealed


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 22. The next meeting ofthe Pardon Issues Commission under the President of the Republic ofAzerbaijan will be held on April 24, Trend reports.

At the previous two meetings of the commission, more than 200appeals received by the commission were considered.

This year, the commission will consider more than 700 appeals of women, foreigners, servicemen, road accidentparticipants, life imprisonment, etc. will be considered. At thefirst meeting, more than 100 appeals were considered.

As of today, 69 pardon decrees and 12 amnesty acts have beensigned.

The last decree on pardoning a number of convicts was signed onMay 8, 2023, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of theNational Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev.

According to the decree, 801 convicts were pardoned, 463 of themwere released from imprisonment, 220 were freed from half of theunserved part of the imprisonment sentence, and 118 were releasedfrom other non-custodial punishments (restriction of freedom,correctional works, fines, and parole).
