Turkmen Experts Explore European Model For Business Ombudsman Institution

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 16. The exchangeof best practices among the OSCE participating states on theestablishment of the Business Ombudsman Institution and theprotection of the rights and legitimate interests of businessentities was the subject of discussion at an OSCE-organized seminarheld in Ashgabat city, Trend reports.

The event was attended by representatives of the Parliament, theOffice of the Ombudsman, the Institute of State, Law, andDemocracy, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Union ofIndustrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, as well asrelevant ministries and higher educational institutions.

The seminar presented the history, international experience, andprospects for the development of the Business OmbudsmanInstitution.

The international expert shared with the participants of theseminar information on institutional reforms and improvements tothe institute of the Business Ombudsman and also gave practicalexamples of the digitalization of the system of protection of therights of entrepreneurs.

Furthermore, the participants exchanged views on the role of thebusiness Ombudsman in supporting the development of small andmedium-sized enterprises, paying special attention to women'sentrepreneurship.

The OSCE representative noted that within the framework of itsmandate, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe(OSCE) supports sustainable economic growth and strengthensinternational economic cooperation in many areas.

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan, striving to improve the businessclimate and protect the rights of entrepreneurs, is interested inthe process of creating a Business Ombudsman Institution.

Steps in this direction include consultations with internationalexperts on the experience of other countries, the development ofappropriate legislation and regulations, as well as training andinfrastructure for the effective work of the future Ombudsman.
