(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 16. Laying thefoundation of the Shirvan irrigation canal is a very significantevent. Among the infrastructure projects implemented in Azerbaijanin recent years, this one has a special importance, said Presidentof Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev as he addressed a groundbreakingceremony for the reconstruction of the Shirvan irrigation canal inthe Hajigabul district, Trend reports.
Pointing out that the canal is already named Shirvan, the headof state said:“The canal will actually be rebuilt, and thousandsof people will benefit from this project. The length of the120-kilometer canal will be doubled to more than 200 kilometers. Asfor arable areas, it will also be more than doubled in size.”
