Azerbaijan Cooperating With EU To Harness Offshore Wind Resources For Green Hydrogen Production - Minister

Azerbaijan isclosely cooperating with the EU to harness offshore wind resourcesin the Caspian for the production of green hydrogen, said Ministerof Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov at the Green HydrogenSummit underway in Abu Dhabi, Trend reports.

"We have designated green zones in the recently liberatedterritories where hydrogen production will be implemented. Thisaspect stands as one of the cornerstones of our collaboration withEurope. The offshore wind potential in the Caspian Sea amounts to157 GW. We are closely collaborating with the EU to harnessoffshore wind resources in the Caspian for the production of greenhydrogen, intending to transport it to the European market," hesaid.

According to the minister, Azerbaijan has already outlined itshydrogen development roadmap.

"Hydrogen is crucial for achieving a 100 percent renewablecapacity. In Azerbaijan, we have already outlined hydrogendevelopment in various strategic documents. The primary strategyfor our country's economic development encompasses not only thedevelopment and utilization of hydrogen but also exploresproduction and export opportunities," he said.
